West Point State Speech Qualifiers to Perform at the Theatre

The state speech qualifiers from West Point Central Catholic and West Point Public will be performing their speeches for the public on Sunday, March 14 at 2:00 p.m. at the West Point Community Theater.

There will be quite a variety of speeches performed--an entertainment, a duet, a poetry, a humorous, an OID, an informative, a persuasive. It will probably take about an hour and a half at the most. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for students. However, booster club passes will be honored at this event.

Eleven competitors in nine speech events from West Point’s high schools qualified for state competition to be held in Kearney next week. The following state qualifiers will perform on Sunday: Devon Birchem (entertainment public speaking, duet acting), Jennifer Garber (oral interpretation of serious prose), John Kingsley (oral interpretation of drama), Kirsten Klitz (duet acting), Danielle Kreikemeier (oral interpretation of drama), Kylie Kreikemeier (informative public speaking, persuasive public speaking), Spencer Leffler (oral interpretation of humorous prose), Claudia Magana (oral interpretation of drama), Dave Moore (extemporaneous public speaking, oral interpretation of drama), Morgan Nelson (oral interpretation of drama), and Megan Perry (oral interpretation of poetry).
